Thick fog disrupts normal life



Photo : banglanews24.comCity covered under blanket of thick fog.  Mild cold wave is sweeping across the capital from Thursday midnight, affecting normal life and causing miseries to the common people.

In the wake of poor visibility due to foggy weather, road traffic remained adversely affected, sources concerned said.

Dense fogs, mists in the air are forcing the sun to remain invisible. Biting cold coupled with cooler winds made life miserable.
Weather will remain dry over the area. Light to moderate to thick fog may occur over the area, said meteorologist Bajlur Rashid.

Moderate to thick fog may occur over the river basins and light to moderate fog elsewhere over the country during midnight till morning, said Bangladesh Met office.
Mild cold wave is also sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Jessore, Kushtia and Srimangal and it may continue, the met office added.

Night temperature fall slightly and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Khaleda’s Gazipur rally denied permission




The local administration has refused the BNP chief Khaleda Zia to hold a rally in Gazipur on December 27.

The Deputy Commissioner of the district, Mohammad Nurul Islam, said that no permission was granted to hold a rally in Gazipur for BNP.

Moreover, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling Awami League, has not sought any permission yet to hold a meeting at the venue, local administration sources said.

Burton, Carter announce split

Big Bash League Shakib joins Melbourne Renegades




Melbourne Renegades have signed the world’s No.1-ranked Twenty20 allrounder Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh for the second half of the KFC T20 Big Bash League season.
A left-hand batsman and left-arm spinner, Shakib is not stranger to the BBL, having represented Adelaide briefly last season.
The 27-year-old replaced West Indian allrounder Andre Russell who will join up with the West Indies ODI squad in South Africa.
